{Staircases: A Focal Point in Every Room
Staircases play a crucial role in connecting different levels of a space, offering both utility and visual appeal. From modern options to traditional designs, stairway designs come in a selection of designs to fit any space. From compact Spiral stairs to sweeping Curved designs, there’s a stair to fit any space or vision.
{U-Shaped Stairway Designs: A Timeless Architectural Feature
These stairway designs are known by their two identical flights and a half-turn landing in the midway point. This option is commonly seen in expansive homes or structures with generous upward dimensions. Despite their impressive look, U-shaped staircases have a space-saving design that optimises space. A landing in the middle of the stair can be used for both rest and decoration. This style is connected to luxury and is a favoured choice in luxurious or traditional homes.
{Curved Stairway Designs: Blending Elegance and Function
These staircases are known for their elegant, curved design that sweeps smoothly upward. Unlike Spiral stairs, Curved designs offer a gentler ascent. Curved stairs are commonly seen in grand homes, classic structures, or upscale hotels as a focal point. Curved staircases are more expensive to build due to the masterful craftsmanship they require. The result is a magnificent architectural feature that elevates the visual appeal of a space.
{Floating Stairway Designs: Ideal for Modern Spaces
Floating staircases are celebrated for their sleek, clean appearance, with stairs that appear to hover. These staircases are designed with invisible supports or concealed attachments, giving them a minimalist, hovering look. Floating stairway designs are commonly used in contemporary interiors to create a open feel. The clean design ensures that other elements, like lighting, can stand out. While beautiful, these stairs demand expert engineering to guarantee durability.
{Spiral Stairs: A Adaptable Architectural Element
The structure of Spiral stairway designs involves treads that wind around a central axis in a circular pattern. The Spiral option is ideal for compact spaces, such as studios, where conventional stairs are too bulky. These stairway designs can be crafted from materials such as glass, offering diverse design options. These stairs are space-saving but may be difficult for people with physical limitations or large items. Despite their challenges, Spiral staircases are loved for their artistic and unique design.
{Bifurcated Stairs: Great for Formal Entrances
A Bifurcated stair is characterised by its harmonious design, usually seen in grand homes. Bifurcated staircases are celebrated for their primary flight that splits into two at a landing, often curving in different ways. Bifurcated staircases are celebrated for their striking and grand presence, making them a top choice for grand entrances. The balanced design ensures a symmetrical appearance, often enhanced by ornate banisters or fixtures. Although they need a lot of space and a larger budget, Bifurcated stairway designs are a classic symbol of sophistication.
{Stairway Designs: A Ideal Blend of Form and Purpose
As both a utilitarian and aesthetic element, staircases highlight the ingenuity of building design. Whether you prefer a minimalist Straight stairway design or an ornate U-shaped design, the choices are practically endless. Regardless of the design or use, stairway designs will always be a central feature in how we navigate and enjoy our environments.
Thousands of homes could have 'unsafe staircases'
Thousands of council homes could have potentially dangerous staircases which need to be replaced.
Newcastle City Council said more than 3,000 homes and 57 block of flats have staircases with horizontal guarding which can pose a risk to children climbing up the panels and either falling or becoming trapped.
The authority said the design, now banned under modern building standards, was a category one hazard under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).
